What is The Witcher 3 all about?
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt[b] is a 2015 action role-playing game. It was developed and published by Polish developer CD Projekt Red and is based on The Witcher series of fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. It is the sequel to the 2011 game The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. It is to be played with a third-person perspective.
The game takes place in a fictional world based on Slavonic mythology. It is the third main installment in The Witcher’s video game series.
Players control protagonist Geralt of Rivia, a monster slayer for hire known as a Witcher. The monster is looking for his missing adopted daughter on the run from the Wild Hunt. This is an otherworldly force determined to capture his daughter.
Players battle the game’s many dangers with weapons and magic. They also interact with non-player characters, and complete quests to acquire experience points and gold. These are used to increase Geralt’s abilities and purchase equipment. Its central story has several endings, determined by the player’s choices at certain points in the game.
What is the upgrade for The Witcher 3 about?
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting a graphical upgrade for next-generation hardware. Moreover, current owners of the game on PC, Playstation, and Xbox will get the update for free.
Developers CD Projekt Red announced the news, saying the updated game will be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, featuring a “range of visual and technical improvements.” These include faster loading times and ray-tracing graphics. The upgrades will apply to the base game, says Projekt Red, as well as to both of its expansions (Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine) and all other “extra content.”
The overwhelming response of this news is a testament to The Witcher 3’s lasting greatness. In addition, this is a game that came out five years ago but remains incredibly liked. It is also an appealing title for many to pick up and play through all over again. It still regularly appears in the top Steam charts on PC, too.
In this case, the free upgrade to the next-gen version also looks pretty generous (is there more to the deal?). It’s not clear if there are any other conditions for getting the upgrade beyond just owning a current copy of The Witcher 3. That means if you’ve not yet played the game and are waiting for the next-gen version (for whatever reason!) you could buy the title now and get the upgrade free next year. Because, who doesn’t like free stuff! Of course, you’ll have to own the relevant console or PC hardware, too.
It’s not clear when the upgrade will be available.
The Witcher is highly acclaimed and enjoyed by many as has already been established. Also, its show is also available on Netflix, for those interested.
With enhanced graphics and ray tracing, a next-gen version of The Witcher 3 could give it the visual splendor of the vertical-slice demo. As a free upgrade to people who already own the game, it’s a tantalizing prospect! Moreover, given the current pandemic, video games are more or less our savior, and The Witcher is a great game for that!
