The announcement of Overwatch 2 came at Blizzcon 2019. Although the Overwatch 2 release date is still not revealed. The game will feature co-operative modes, new maps, and heroes with customization and leveling. The game will also help in building a story behind the gamer’s favorite heroes. Blizzard Entertainment is the developer and also the publisher of the game.
Overwatch 2 Release Date
We are yet to get an official release date for the game. In fact, the game director Jeff Kaplan said that they don’t have a date in mind. In January this year, a statement was given on Twitter by PlayStation Brazil that the game would be released on PS4 in 2020.
The tweet was then deleted. The tweet was never confirmed by Blizzard Entertainment. Blizzard has said that the game is still in the early stage of development and they can’t be sure of a release date. Although Blizzard revealed that the game will be going dark.
Gameplay and Features
The game will be expanding the universe through an all-new story focused PvE mode. It aims to bring more of the world and lore that the game has to offer. This has been mostly observed in bits and pieces through trailers, comics, and occasional cutscenes in events. Watch the gameplay trailer of Overwatch 2 below.
The game seems to be revolving around the fight between Overwatch and Null Sector.
It will feature a PvP mode called Push. The game shows an all-new map set in Toronto, Canada.
There is also a new 6v6 mode. The players in this will fight for control of a giant robot. The players in Overwatch 2 will need to gain control of the robot in an effort to push the marker towards the opposing team.
A source also added that the most impressive part of the Push feature is the new Toronto map in its set. It showcases some of the graphical improvements. There is also a noticeable improvement in visuals based on the map alone.
Overwatch 2 main campaign will be made of co-op Story Missions. We will see new and old heroes teaming up against Null Sector. Null Vector is the robotic army players who fought in the Uprising Event in the first game Overwatch.
New Characters in Overwatch 2
There were four unannounced heroes teased for the game. One of these characters could be Echo. Echo was recently confirmed to be the last new hero in the game. Jeff Kaplan the game director confirmed the same. He said that Echo is the last hero coming to the game.
Furthermore, a teaser was shown at Blizzcon where Overwatch 2 was announced shows Sojourn as a new hero coming to the game. Sojourn is from Canada and was featured as a captain in a seasonal event of the game called Storm Rising. Fans also noticed Sojourn in Ana’s origin story. Sojourn is also one of the founding members of Overwatch. She was spotted again in a quick flash as a hero. In the quick flash, Winston uses a computer to call for help in an animated short called Recall. Sojourn will also be the first black female hero in the game.
