Fans of Mission Impossible gear up! Cause after the grand success of the latest installment “Fallout”, Paramount is developing Mission: Impossible 7 & 8. It was announced in January 2019, that director Christopher McQuarrie is targeting a 2021 release of the show along with the 8th installment set for 2022. He has also directed the previous two movies of the franchise.


In spite of the widespread pandemic, the filming of Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 has resumed in Britain as Tom Cruise himself called up one of the members of the United Kingdom authorities, Oliver Dowden. Earlier the filming was supposed to happen in Venice, Italy. Though it had to be stopped because of a serious coronavirus outbreak in the country, confirmed Simon Pegg. Tom Cruise was reportedly said to set up a coronavirus-free village’ at an abandoned RAF website in Oxfordshire where the entire team continued to work.

Mission: Impossible 7 Release date

The seventh and eighth instalments were scheduled to release on 23rd July 2021 and 5th August 2022 respectively. However, because of the lockdown, the release was delayed to November 2021. The movie is likely to be released by then considering the fact that shooting was continued when so many other projects were put on halt. The trailer for the movie will most probably drop sometime before the release in 2021.

  • Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt
  • Ving Rhames as Luther and Tom Cruise’s co-star
  • Simon Pegg who also featured in Mission: Impossible 3 as Benji Dunn. He said, “Absolutely. If I am inside and they brought it up. These pictures are always so much fun to take part in, and it’s a nice thing to do to get a job, running around saving the world.”
  • Angela Bassett as Erica Sloan
  • Vannesa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis aka the White Widow will be reprising her character as she tells Digital Spy, “After you know somebody and how they operate, it’s delightful to play her in a lot of different situations, I’d like this.” In an interview with Glamour she also stated that she started training for Mission: Impossible 7. “It was really intense and very dark so going to training for Mission Impossible is marginally going to release everything,” she said.
  • Nicholas Hoult as director Christopher McQuarrie posted a photo on Instagram captioned, “care to raise a little hell?” which is comprehensible considering his role as a villain in the movie. Hoult is popular for his role in the X-Men movie franchise as Hank McCoy/Beast. He was also seen in the recently released Tolkien, a biopic of the iconic writer of The Lord of the Rings.
  • Pom Klementieff from Guardians of the Galaxy, Uncut Stone is also said to have joined the cast though his role is quite uncertain.
  • Hayley Atwell who was starred in Avengers: Endgame and Blinded by the Light.

  • Sean Harris as Solomon Lane 
  • Michelle Monaghan as Ethan’s former wife Julia

What to expect?

Apart from unique plot twists, death-defying stunts, and Ethan Hunt venturing into more action-packed spying scenes expect more of double-crossing and a possible return of the villain Solomon Lane. Rebecca Ferguson hinted on her role in the movie saying that she could be going all bad or all rogue or more unexpectedly turn into a supporter. Nothing more is confirmed about the plot though.
