The Infinity Saga marks its end but, phase four of Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to begin. Doctor Strange is one of the important characters in the Marvel world, he always helped in keeping the superheroes world intact with his time travelling. As such, he is to embark on a solo adventure in phase four. Doctor Strange 2: The Multiverse Of Madness will be the twenty-ninth film in the Marvel Cinematic World. It is also the sixth and final of phase four.
The catchy title and the ingrained powers of Doctor Strange is what makes fuels the excitement in the fans. If you are as excited as me to watch this movie, then read below and know everything about the sequel in prior.
When is the sequel releasing?
The film was initially scheduled to release on May 7, 2021. But, it was pushed twice because of two other movies in phase four.
Firstly, Black widow’s delay pushed the release to November 5, 2021.
Secondly, SpiderMan 3 made its release to further delay to March 25, 2021. Currently, we can anticipate this as the final date unless some other impediments block the release.
The production work was scheduled to start in May 2020. But, the pandemic is a predicament to the Marvel Universe as well. Not only this but also there was a quandary regarding the director of the movie.
Who is Directing Doctor Strange 2: Multiverse of Madness?
Scott Derrickson was the director of the first Doctor Strange movie released in 2016. He was originally roped in to direct the sequel as well.
However, in January 2020 Derrickson announced that creative differences resulted in him dropping off from the project.
In February 2020, it was reported that Sam Raimi was in talks with Marvel to undertake the sequel. Moreover, the news was confirmed by Raimi himself in April 2020. Raimi is the one who brought the Spider-Man trilogy alive with his direction.
The cast of Doctor Strange 2
Obviously, Benedict Cumberbatch will be back as Doctor Stephen Strange.
We can expect another Benedict to be back as well, considering he has been talking about the movie a lot. So, Benedict as Wong is seen in the movie.
Elizabeth Olsen will be appearing in the movie as Scarlet Witch.
Though he might not be the main villain of the movie we might expect Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo.
So far, this is all the information we find.
What is the plot of the film?
When Derrickson was still attached to the Doctor Strange 2 project, he hinted at the Comicon that the sequel has horror and gothic elements to it. He said they were “making the first scary MCU film”
“This twist in horror will have people gripped… We’ll be going back to trying to destroy him a bit.” Cumberbatch added to Derrickson’s words.
This intrigues and excites every fan to anticipate what is in store for them.
We really can’t predict the plot as of now, added Derrickson’s parting raise questions on whether his perception will carry forward or not.
However, A listing from Production Weekly opened a little window to seek the story. Dr Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone after the events of Avengers: Endgame. But, in no time he will be facing an old friend turned enemy shows up, messing with the plan and causing him “to unleash unspeakable evil.”
There is a long wait in a midway until we reach the destination to watch this movie. You can run an MCU marathon several times before we even finally watch Doctor Strange 2.
