DC Comics has released solicitation information and images for new comics and products shipping in November 2020. It revealed Suicide Squad will come to an end (by writer Tom Taylor and artist Bruno Redondo).
Rodondo debuted the concept art of the new costume for Harley Quinn, that she’ll be wearing in the final issue.
Harley Quinn’s Outfit
Harley Quinn is one of DC’s most prominent characters, with two movies, an animated series and several comics, Quinn has been a center-spot of attention than ever, lately. Her costumes are always a major highlight of her character and the brand new one, designed exclusively for the final issue. This new costume certainly enhances Quinn’s persona and gives her the look of a badass superhero. The former doctor is probably the most famous DC character who didn’t debut in the pages of a comic, but instead on a TV screen.
The New 52
First appearing in ‘Batman: The Animated Series’. Harley originally wore her most iconic outfit. The black and red jester’s costume worked well because it marked her as the Joker’s sidekick while also setting her apart. The red and black color scheme pops out and instantly makes her stand out from the Joker’s other henchmen. Harley would keep this outfit when she eventually made the jump to comic books. It would remain her only costume until DC rebooted their universe with the New 52. In the New 52, DC made an effort to move Harley away from Joker and have her associate much more closely with Suicide Squad. Further, with this reinvention came a new costume.
Description of the Costume
The transitional change, from her shorts and jacket combo that she’s sporting in Batman: Joker War, is shifted to the look which is pretty slick and features her traditional red, black, and white color scheme. Harley is sporting a stylish and more militaristic style jacket. This look is almost completely buttoned up except for the top button. Fingerless gloves, pants, and boots complete the ensemble. The new costume seems to take more inspiration from her classic design while incorporating newer elements such as the pigtails. Notably, the costume appears less form-fitting. This has been attributed to the resistant material of this outfit. Moreover, A nice detail is the coattails, which make her look like a stage performer.
Rodondo took to Twitter to write the following: “Just talked with @whatthe_shea and she gave me permission to share this: Harley’s new suit in last #SuicideSquad chapter (without the mask) @TomTaylorMade #SquadGoalsDC” unveiling the dynamic new suit for Harley Quinn. While Suicide Squad isn’t sticking around in its current form, hopefully, the costume doesn’t go anywhere, because think many fans have liked it quite a bit.
Reaction about the Costume
As expected, the reaction to the costume on twitter has been overwhelming, fans seem to appreciate it a lot. Many including, writer Tom Taylor expect it to be the default Harley Quinn costume, and we do not see a reason, why it shouldn’t be the case. Nevertheless, Harley’s most iconic costume was her first costume. The forthcoming costumes were more free-spirited because it depicted her independency from ‘Pudding’ aka Joker. This costume manages to contain the original spirit while contributing to a fight-club suit.
So, that was we knew about Harley Quinn’s look from the DC Series Suicide Squad #11. We hope this should not be the last time we will be seeing the dynamic suit. What do you think? Tell us in the comments below!
